Greenland: Capital Coast & Eternity Fjord

Nuuk → Sisimiut: skerries, fishing villages, the Eternity Fjord and the Arctic Circle

A northbound passage along the wild south-west coast, from Greenland's capital to its second-largest town — through a maze of skerries and fjords, into the glacier-lined Eternity Fjord and across the Arctic Circle.

Day-by-day programme

Day 1: Nuuk

The route starts in Greenland's capital: the colourful old colonial harbour, the National Museum and Sermitsiaq mountain towering over the town.

Day 2: Atammik

A tiny fishing settlement with no road to anywhere — only the sea. The first anchorages among the skerries of the south-west coast.

Day 3: Napasoq

Another small island community of fishermen, reached through a maze of narrow sounds and skerries.

Day 4: Maniitsoq

The "Venice of Greenland": a town built across rocky islands linked by bridges, beneath alpine peaks.

Day 5: Kangaamiut – Eternity Fjord

We turn inland into the long, narrow Eternity Fjord, with tidewater glaciers and summits close to 2,000 m.

Day 6: Itilleq

A small island village just north of the Arctic Circle — this is where we cross it.

Day 7: Sisimiut

Greenland's second-largest town, with its historic colonial quarter and strong hunting and dog-sledding traditions. End of the route.
